Charlottesville Senior Portraits | Catherine – The Covenant School – 2015

Next up for the Class of 2015 is Catherine, a beautiful senior from The Covenant School in Charlottesville. We started her senior portraits at my studio with a quick head shot. I knew within the first few frames that this was going to be a fantastic session! Catherine is so expressive and gave me a ton of different looks. She’s an actress and has been in tons of plays at her school…she actually wants to study theater in college and was a total natural in front of the camera!

We then headed out to Pleasant Grove for her outdoor senior portrait photos. Since Catherine loves Shakespeare, I brought along a few of my old books to use as props. It was such a perfect coincidence, I handed her a book that matched her shirt and it turned out to The Tales of Shakespeare! I was already loving the session but when Catherine showed my her mask and lace dress, I got super excited! I’m an absolute fool for drama in my photos!!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits | Matthew – The Covenant School – 2015

I always love taking senior portraits, but the Class of 2015 holds a special place in my heart. My son is a senior this year and I’ve watched so many of his friends grow up. Matthew definitely falls into this category! I’ve known his family for years and took his older brother John’s senior portraits a few years ago. Actually, before Matthew transferred to the Covenant School, he was in Casey’s first grade class and they played on the same soccer team for several seasons!

Matthew decided to have his senior portraits taken at a park in Fluvanna County near the Rivanna River. We took some photos by the river and then moved over to the picnic area. Many senior guys aren’t into getting their senior portraits so I wasn’t sure how things would go. I shouldn’t have worried, Matthew was totally at ease in from of the camera and has such an amazing smile!

Thanks so much for a wonderful afternoon Lisa & Matthew! I really enjoyed spending time with the two of you (it’s been way too long!) and I wish you the best of luck with your future Matthew!

Senior Portraits – Ryan I FCHS – Class of 2015 (Charlottesville VA Portrait Photographer)

I know I’ve said it before but I absolutely love it when seniors personalize their portraits! Ryan from Fluvanna County High School sure did that! We had his session at Pleasant Grove in Fluvanna County. First I took some casual photos of Ryan and then we moved onto the main act!

I’m not into cars, (in fact I’ve had the same mini-van for years) but holy cow, Ryan’s Mustang was beautiful! The day had been a little overcast and as we started taking photos of Ryan with his car, a storm front moved in. The sky was incredible! It kept changing every few minutes and as I took the last photos, it started sprinkling. By the time I had my gear all loaded into the car, it started pouring…talk about perfect timing!

Senior Portraits – Jacob I FCHS – Class of 2015 (Charlottesville VA Portrait Photographer)

I’ve had clients personalize their senior portraits with sports, ballet, horses, cars and even a motorcycle but this is the first time I’ve had a session that included a kayak! Jacob a senior at Fluvanna County High School wanted his session to include him on the water and I was super excited to accommodate him!

We met up at Westview on the James where Jacob has been both a camper and a camp counselor for many years…what a beautiful place! We started out taking some casual shots of Jacob around the camp and then moved onto the lake. We timed it perfectly! Just as we got there the sun was peeking through trees and turned everything a lovely golden color. You could tell that Jacob was happiest when he was cruising around the lake on his kayak.

Senior Portraits – Joseph I FCHS – Class of 2015 (Charlottesville VA Portrait Photographer)

Last Friday I photographed Joseph, a senior from Fluvanna County High School’s Class of 2015. After taking senior portraits for so many girls, Joseph is the first guy I’ve photographed for this class. Coincidentally, the next two sessions after him were guys too!

Joseph has been playing baseball for about 10 years and plays for FCHS so naturally we had a portion of his senior portraits on the school’s field. It was an overcast day but I love how dramatic the sky looked! Not only does Joesph play baseball but he also plays base in a band call Perfect Slight. They were actually playing at the National in Richmond the very next night! We then moved on to a second location for some natural photos. We were even lucky enough to have the sun come out for a few of them!
