Fall is always busy with senior portraits but I love every minute of it! The cool weather is a much welcomed change from the warmer summer months and the changing leaves make for an amazing backdrop. I’m having so much fun with the Class of 2015 and Kate was no exception! She goes to Fluvanna County High School, is a cheerleader, has won a few pageants and is an absolute sweetheart!

I took Kate’s yearbook photo over the summer and was super excited to take her lifestyle session too. Yearbook photos are nice but the outdoor senior portraits are where you really let your personality shine through! Kate brought along an entourage with her to her senior portraits! I didn’t mind one bit though. It’s always fun to have a good friend with you, plus you get some great photos of the two (or in this case four) of you together! Plus I put them to work! They helped me out by carrying gear, holding reflectors and of course making me laugh!

Thanks for a super fun afternoon Kate (and Shay, Lauren and Lexi)! I really enjoyed spending time with you and wish you the best of luck next year!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits | Erin – FCHS – Class of 2015

I love this time of year! The weather is getting colder, the leaves are starting to change and I get to spend my time taking senior portraits! Erin is one of my senior reps for Fluvanna County High School’s Class of 2015 and has been my assistant since she was a Sophomore. This is my third time photographing her and as usual I loved every minute of it! You should check out her urban mini-session and her studio ballerina session. One of the great perks about being an AJP senior rep is all of the extra session you receive!

Since we’d done both the urban and the personalized sessions, we went to the Board’s Head Inn in Charlottesville for more natural senior portraits. I hadn’t been there in years but it is such an awesome location! It was a little cold and crazy windy, but Erin looked amazing! I absolutely love color in my senior portraits and hardly ever show black & white photos but something about Erin in these surroundings called out for it so I included a few!

I’ve been stressing out about who will assist me when Erin leaves for college next year (It’s going to be so sad!) but I’ve finally found her replacement! Well, no one can replaceher but you know what I mean. 🙂 Since Erin was in front of the lens for a change, Savannah came along to assist me. It worked out great and I’m really excited about the prospect of working with her next fall when she’s s junior!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits | Charlie – FCHS – Class of 2015

I have been looking forward to taking Charlie’s senior portraits for months! He’s a senior at Fluvanna County High School and wanted an urban feel to his senior portraits. He suggested we head to Carytown in Richmond, Virginia and I jumped at the chance! I’ve taken senior portraits in Charlottesville, Fluvanna County, even Fredericksburg but this was my first time having one in Richmond!

We spent the first part of the session wandering around Carytown, looking for interesting backgrounds. There were so many great spots! It was a gorgeous Saturday, the first real day that felt like fall so the place was pretty crowded. We decided to head over to Canal Street, another first for me. This location was even better than the first! I could not believe how much cool artwork there was painted on the walls!

Another first, was the awesome outfits Charlie brought for his senior portraits! The cat shirt and sweatshirt, the fast foot sweatshirt, even the hashtag sweater were all so awesome! The only negative of the day was that I didn’t have enough time to photograph all of his amazing outfits! I had a fantastic time with you and your mom Charlie! Enjoy the rest of your senior year and good luck in the future!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits – Shay – FCHS – Class of 2015

Meet Shay, from Fluvanna County High School Class of 2015! A few years ago I was honored to take her brother Blake’s senior portraits, so I was thrilled when their mom contacted me about Shay’s. We had to cancel her session once due to rain but it turned out to be for the best. The day of her senior portraits was beautiful…just like Shay!

During the session, I found out a few things about Shay. Some of her favorite musicians are Usher and Beyonce and she listens to Steve Harvey most mornings. She loves chocolate and has a pet Cockatoo named Sunshine. I think Shay could have been named Sunshine too because that describes her personality! She is such a sweetheart and so much fun to photograph.

Thanks for a great afternoon Shay & Kim, I really enjoyed spending the time with you both! Thanks for choosing me to take senior portraits for both of your awesome children! Enjoy the rest of your senior year Shay!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits – Cara – FCHS – Class of 2015

I love this time of year! The weather is getting colder, the leaves are starting to change and I get to spend my time taking senior portraits! Last Saturday I photographed Cara, a senior from Fluvanna County High School. We started out at Beaver Dam Baptist Church where Cara’s father is the Pastor. There we found the a tree that was absolutely beautiful! The leaves had turned yellow and the sunlight coming through was just gorgeous! Speaking of gorgeous, how awesome is Cara’s hair?

We then moved on to a nearby farm. What an amazing location! There were so many wonderful spots to use, and I am in love with the flower garden they had there! Cara is good friends with my assistant Erin and she also brought along another friend Abbey. I love it when seniors bring friends along to their senior portraits. It’s always fun to have a good friend with you, plus you get some great photos of the two (or in this case three) of you together! I had such a wonderful time with the three of them…I spent most of the session laughing! I’m really looking forward to photographing Erin & Abbey in a few weeks.
