I began specializing in senior portrait photography two years ago and I have never been happier! I loved the time I spent photographing families, children and babies but this genre of photography is my passion! Maybe it’s because I have two teens of my own but I feel like this is what I’m supposed to be doing. My senior photography business has grown so much over the past two years and I feel honored that so many of you have chosen me to photograph this time in your children’s lives! Okay, enough mushy stuff…let’s move on to Lauren, a gorgeous senior from Fluvanna County High School’s session!

I’ve known Lauren and her family for years and our kids were in pre-school together so I was really looking forward to her session! I’d seen her grow up from afar but I was blown away by what an unbelievably stunning woman she’d turned into! She wanted a natural feel to her session to take advantage of the beautiful fall leaves. I was fortunate enough to get permission to to have her session at Camp Friendship an absolutely beautiful camp here in Fluvanna. I knew it existed but I had no idea how huge it is! The have kids come to camp from all over the world and even have an equestrian center with around 75 horses!

Lauren brought the best outfits with her, I joked that I could use them as a “What to Wear” post on my website! She was a total natural in front of the camera too, alternating her poses and expressions without me saying a word! We lucked out and had perfect weather for her session…the leaves were so beautiful but Lauren’s eyes almost put them to shame!! I kid you not, she has about 4 or 5 different colors mixed up in there!

Thanks for a great afternoon Katie and Lauren! I had so much fun with you both and can’t wait until we have your swim session this winter! Good luck with your future plans Lauren adn enjoy the rest of your senior year!

Senior Portraits Charlottesville | Jake – FCHS – Class of 2015

I always love taking senior portraits, but the Class of 2015 holds a special place in my heart. My son is a senior this year and I’ve watched so many of his friends grow up. Jake a senior from Fluvanna County High School definitely fits into that category!

Senior Portraits Charlottesville | Kristen – FCHS – Class of 2015

The days are getting colder, the leaves are in full color and senior portrait season is going strong! Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Kristen, a beautiful senior from Fluvanna County High School. I took Kristen’s yearbook photo over the summer and was super excited to take her lifestyle session too. Yearbook photos are nice but the outdoor senior portraits are where you get to personalize your session through clothing, activities…even a pony!

We spent her session at Four Oaks Farm where Kristen rides in Fluvanna. What a gorgeous farm!! I had a senior portrait session here once in the spring, but in the fall it was even more beautiful…especially since the leaves were at their peak! Kristen brought along the most adorable outfits and I love that she accessorized them with a hat and scarves! Oh and the best accessory for her senior portraits, her pony Jester! We timed it perfectly and were able to get shots of them with the gorgeous sunlight shining over the barn behind them.

I had a wonderful time during the session. Super big thanks to Kristen’s mom for being my assistant for the day! Thanks again for a fantastic afternoon ladies and good luck with your future Kristen!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits |Abbey – FCHS – Class of 2015

The days are getting colder, the leaves are in full color and senior portrait season is going strong! I always have the best time taking senior portraits and Abbey’s session was no exception! She attends Fluvanna County High School and is absolutely beautiful both inside and out! I took her yearbook photo back in August and have been looking forward to her lifestyle session ever since!

We spent the first part of the session at a gorgeous farm here in Fluvanna. I’ve taken a few senior portraits here before but this time the leaves were at their peak! This is also the first time we ever used the tire swing, I don’t know how I missed it last time but the photos of Abbey in it (especially the one of her & her mother Mary) are some of my all time favorites! I encourage my senior clients to make a Pinterest senior portrait board so I can get an idea of what they are interested in. When Abbey pinned a few cheer photos, I was more than happy to recreate them. At the end of the session, when I saw the gorgeous sky, I knew I had to get a silhouette shot of her…another one of my favorites!

I had a great time with with Abbey and her mom. They are both so sweet and such fun to be around…I spent the majority of the session laughing! Thanks again for a fantastic afternoon ladies and good luck with your future Abbey!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits |Christian – WMHS – Class of 2015

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Christian, a senior from William Monroe High School. He wanted his senior portraits to have a natural feel to them so we headed over to one my favorite Charlottesville locations. I’ve had many senior portrait sessions here before but I always seem to find a something new. It’s such a great location and has so many beautiful spots…I could spend hours at the rock wall alone!

I took Christian’s yearbook photo over the summer and was super excited to take his lifestyle session too. Yearbook photos are nice but the outdoor senior portraits are so much more interesting! Especially this time of year with the changing leaves, it’s just so gorgeous outside! I loved how Christian’s outfit choices really represented who he is. A William Monroe dragons shirt, his Redskins football jersey, his cross country uniform and of course, his tux! When his mom told me he was bring the tux along, I was all for it. He looks like he belongs on a GQ cover!

I had a wonderful time with Christian, his mother and his Godmother. They are all so nice and really made the session a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy the rest of your senior year Christian and good luck with your future!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits | Kara – LCHS – Class of 2015

Fall senior portrait season is going strong and tonight I’d like to introduce Kara, a senior from Louis County High School. She was interested in an urban session (I love all kinds of sessions all but urban senior portraits are my favorite!) so of course I headed over to my favorite Charlottesville location, the IX Art Park! I’ve talked about how every portrait session I have here is different and this proves it! One of the things I love about photography is how a few simple changes really switch up the feel of a session!

Kara is a dancer, tap dancing being her favorite…her mom told me they call her happy feet because she’s always tapping her feet! I was excited she was going to incorporate one of her dance costumes into her photos. When she showed me the masks she got in Venice, I almost started jumping up and down! They are just so cool!! I though they went perfectly with Kara’s outfit and the surroundings. Totally added a little extra drama to the scene!

I had so much fun with Kara and her mom during the session. When the session was over, I was shocked at how quickly the time had flown by! Thanks so much for choosing me to be your senior portrait photographer Kara! Good luck with your future and enjoy the rest of your senior year!

Charlottesville Senior Portraits | Natalie – FCHS – Class of 2015

Next up on my blog is Natalie, a beautiful senior from Fluvanna County High School with some seriously gorgeous eyes!! She wanted her senior portraits to have an urban feel to them so we spent the afternoon in downtown Charlottesville. We visited some of my favorite locations and even found a few new ones. That’s one of the things I love about urban session…things are always changing so no two senior portrait sessions are ever the same!

After spending time in the downtown area (including the top of a parking garage which I always love) we headed over to one of my favorite locations, the IX Art Park. They are always adding new works of art to the park. Every time I go, I see something more awesome than last time. I mean, how cool is that book tower chair? If you’ve never been there, you should definitely check it out!

It had rained for several days before Natalie’s session, (it actually rained the day after it too) but we were lucky enough to have a break in the weather. We even took advantage of the situation with a few props. I love the photo of her jumping in the puddles! I had really enjoyed spending the afternoon with you and your mother Natalie! Enjoy the rest of your senior year and good luck with your future!
