One of the many things I love about taking Senior Portraits Charlottesville Virginia is how many different people I get to work with. Josh, a senior from Fluvanna County High School’s Class of 2019 is a perfect example!
When his mom told me that Josh was a volunteer fire fighter and they wanted to have his senior portraits reflect that, I was over the top excited! Talk about a bucket list photography item for senior portraits!
We started with a few casual shots and his cap & gown photo, and then had Josh wear part of his uniform. Next we had him put on the whole thing. Man, I had no idea how much gear they have to wear!
I used my fog machine and a red gel to give the illusion of a smoke filled room. I loved the way the photos looked but wanted to try something a little different.
Then I had the idea of using an orange and yellow gel along with the fog machine to make it look like he was coming out of a burning room.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but HOLY COW!!! I was absolutely blown away (no pun intended) by the results! Check out the behind the scenes video from my Instagram story!
Here are the actual photos!
Next we headed over to the Lake Monticello fire station for a few environmental shots of Josh.
I don’t often mix up color and b&w photos in Senior portrait posts on my website, but for these next photos of Josh, I felt the black and white versions were the clear winners!
I had the absolutely BEST time with Josh and his mom. The whole session was a blast and is something I’ll always remember!
Super big thanks to Josh’s dad – you can see where Josh must have gotten the idea to become a firefighter! – for letting us use the fire house for the session.
