Happy New Year! I’ve taken a little break from updating my blog but I’m back and ready to share the Class of 2020’s Senior Portraits Charlottesville Virginia!
Today on the blog we have Chassy, a gorgeous senior from Louisa County High School. Chassy is on my Creative Team for the Class of 2020 and I am having so much fun with her!
Our first session was a super quick studio meetup. It was a great way for me to meet my Creative Team and get them used to being in front of the camera. I decided to put my camera on a tripod, set a 2 second timer to go off 20 times and let it go! It was so much fun seeing what they came up with. Especially when I put the antique phone in front of them and told them to play around with it. I don’t think anyone on the team had used a rotary phone before!
One of the great parts about being on the AJP Creative Team is in addition to your regulars senior portraits, you also have the opportunity to participate in the interesting themed shoots that I love so much. You are also the people I turn to when I update my marketing materials, teach lighting classes or when I just want to get creative and try something new.
We did just that with Chassy’s next session. I wanted to try some fun fashion style photos. We used a combination outfits she brought with her and clothes & jewelry from my style closet.
I mean seriously, how cute are these?! Not to mention I love the bird necklace I’ve added to my jewelry stash!
For Chassy’s senior portraits, we headed to Richmond to give the session an urban feel. We knew it was going to be hot (low 90s, not ideal weather to shoot in but do-able) but we didn’t account for how much hotter it would feel there. It was like being in an oven…you could literally feel the heat radiating off of the buildings and the pavement!
After quick outfit change, (it’s always funny to watch the looks on people’s faces when I set up my pop-up changing tent on the sidewalk!) we headed to a nearby park.
It was a wonderful location but because of the heat, we decided to pick one final outfit and save the rest of the session for a nicer day. Since Chassy is the executive editor of LCHS’ paper, the Lion’s Roar, we definitely had to include a few photos with some of the newspapers!
Just as we were leaving, the sprinklers came on. Chassy took advantage and ran through them to cool off. I actually got hit by them while taking these photos. It felt wonderful! The last photo in the collage is when I asked her if she wanted to take any photos with her wet hair. I’m sure you can tell by her expression, the answer was no!
Thank you Chassy and Samantha! It may have been hotter than an oven but I had a great time with you guys!!
