Lexi | Fluvanna County High School – 2016
Things have been so busy around here, I’ve fallen way behind on my blog posts! I’m not complaining though, I love senior photography and am honored that so many seniors in the Charlottesville area have chosen me to document this time in their lives!
I’ve been looking forward to sharing this session since…right after it occurred actually! π It involves an amazing soccer player, a fog machine, and some super cool dramatic lighting! Let me introduce Lexi, a senior from Fluvanna County High School.
I’ve been interested in using a fog machine in my sessions for quite sometime now. I’d seen a few examples of sports photographers using it and it looked so cool, I knew I had to give it a whirl. When it was time for Lexi’s session, I had the perfect opportunity!
We started out with a few basic shots using my go-to one light set up. Then it was time to break out the big guns! I used one light in the front and two lights in the back to illuminate the fog. I put colored gel sheets in blue and gold (GO FLUCOS!) on the lights, got Lexi in position and had my assistant turn on the machine. This was my first time using the fog machine so I wasn’t sure what to expect but holy cow, I was blown away by the results!
I know it was hard for Lexi to keep her game face on through out these photos. Between the fog machine filling up the room, me freaking out with excitement at how awesome it looked, and the audience she had (her mom, her boyfriend and my assistant) it must have felt like a zoo. She managed to keep her cool and did a fantastic job! I could have photographed her all day in my studio but we were running out of time so we headed outside for the next part of the session.
I love the fact that I was able to capture two of the many different aspects of Lexi’s personality. She looked like a super fierce soccer player in the studio and then she changed her clothes and out popped a different side!
Lexi wanted a few soccer action shots outside so we headed over to Pleasant Grove, a park here in Fluvanna County. Before she changed her clothes, we took a few photos of her and her boyfriend. I have to give it up to Craig who patiently waited through out the make-up (big thanks to my MUA Miranda!), studio shots and outdoor shots until it was his turn to take a few photos of the two of them. Good gravy they are so stinking cute together!
The sun was setting fast but we got this awesome shot before it set. Man oh man Lexi, your eyes are absolutely gorgeous!
Thank goodness for my lights because I was able to capture these fantastic shots of Lexi in action as the sun slowly sun below the horizon. I have no idea how it’s possible to look this adorable while jumping in the air and kicking a soccer ball but dang if Lexi hasn’t mastered it! π
Thanks so much for a wonderful afternoon Lexi!! I had such a great time with you and wish you nothing but the best with your future…enjoy the rest of your senior year!
