Meet Haley, a free safety/safety at Shenandoah University, located in Winchester Virginia.
Since I started my business, I’ve shot a ton of sports photography in the Charlottesville VA area. I’ve photographed everything from soccer to baseball to the high jump and of course a lot of football. Of all the football sessions I’ve had, this my first time photographing a female football player!
UPDATE: September 23rd, 2023
Go Haley!! You’ve made national news!!
My second time photographing Haley was on the Shenandoah University athletic field. I had been was blown away by her in the studio, but on the field, she was another level of impressive!
Sometimes she was so fast, my camera had a hard time keeping her in the frame!
She even has her own Wikipedia page now: “Haley Van Voorhis is the first woman to play a position other than kicker in an NCAA football game, at any level. She accomplished this as a safety for the Shenandoah University Hornets on September 23, 2023.”
Congratulations Haley!! You have so much strength and determination! Who knows, maybe one day I’ll photograph you when you’re playing in the NFL!

I met up with Haley and her mom in my studio for her portraits. If going to an outdoor location isn’t possible or convenient, my studio is the perfect spot for sports photography sessions in the Charlottesville VA area.
Haley attends Shenandoah University where she making history as the first woman on the school’s football team .
If that wasn’t amazing enough, she’s also is the first woman in the United States to play NCAA college football that wasn’t signed on as a special teams position!
I can’t even imagine how many hours Haley spends in the gym. She is a force to be reckoned with!
Using my smoke machine was an absolutely no-brainier for this session!
Talk about a serious game face! I can’t get over how fierce Haley looks!
I absolutely loved working with you Haley…good luck with all your future plans!
