Every year, I try to come up with an interesting photography concept for my senior model themed sessions. In the past I’ve had color inspired sessions, and icon sessions. With this year’s models, we had Warrior Women, Old Hollywood , Victorian Gothic & Vintage Fashion.
This year, I decided to keep the groups smaller to allow more themes to play around with. The first theme of the year was Flowers & Water with Olivia, one of my 2019 Senior Models from Fluvanna County High School and Rachel, my senior Model from William Monroe High School.
Initially I had a envisioned an ethereal look with white flowy dresses, plain water and subdued colors. After some planning and shopping (man do I love Goodwill!), I decided to switch the look up to a milk bath with bright flowers and dresses. It wasn’t actually milk in the water though! I mixed a big container of non-dairy creamer with warm water and poured it into a large inflatable pool I’d covered with a white tarp. I had to climb on an eight foot ladder to get these shots. It was a little unnerving because I am the clumsiest person on the planet and at one point while laughing, I almost fell off the ladder! Luckily I managed to catch myself and played it safe from there on out!
The girls had their makeup done by the incredibly talented Sydney Small and as always, she did a wonderful job. Both girls looked absolutely gorgeous, both in and out of the water!
Olivia – FCHS | 2019 – I couldn’t have picked a better dress for Olivia! It went perfectly with the plants and flowers and really showcased her beautiful blue eyes!
Rachel – WMHS ’19 – The burgundy tank dress Rachel wore was another great pick. Her coloring, expressions and eyes just blew me away!!
Halfway through the session, I had the girls change into sequined dresses and gave them some fancy jewelry to wear. I loved the contrast between all the sparkles and the soft white water and flowers.
Thanks so much Olivia and Rachel, I had so much fun during the session! I’m sure it wasn’t super comfortable, or warm to hang out in a pool of cold water. Not only did you guys rock the session, you managed to stay looking relaxed and gorgeous the whole time! Super big thanks to Rachel’s mom Deanna for all her help during the session. I couldn’t have done it without her!
